Chili Pepper, Anyone?

A friend of mine loves chili peppers probably as much as I do. Her husband makes killer salsa. My mouth waters just typing it! She had a birthday. So I made this card for her. The pepper was dry-embossed using Sizzix embossing folder on 3 pieces of scrap card stock, red, green and white. Trimmed the red and green and pop-dotted them on the white for more dimension. Background and sentiment stamps are from Stampin' Up! Wish you had one great big red peppery kind of day, Margie! :)

Oriental Mask

This was for the last swap on OSA-ACE 8. I was having a hard time coming up with the design being the last swap and all. Background was done on a blue textured cardstock. I ran the cardstock with brass template (Hokusai Waves) by Dreamweavers, thru my Wizard. Then I sanded the cardstock to remove the blue on the embossed part. Then turned the piece vertically and stamped with the script stamp from About Art Accents. The mask from a local toys store was glued on top of a piece of ribbon.

How (Double) Kind of You!

There is not a single stamp used on this tri-fold card. The dry embossing on the two flaps was done by cuttlebugging them. The main image How Kind of You was done on an HVAC foil tape. I put the tape on a piece of scrap cardstock for stability. Then ran it in my How Kind of You embossing folder by Sizzix. Then I distressed the embossed piece with acrylic paint and alcohol ink.

The next card is done the exact same way as the above, using different Cuttlebug embossing folder for the base card. Hope you like!Thanks for stopping in today! Have a great day, one and all!

Life, Bundle of Lil' Things.

Do you drink soda pop? Wanna see another new way to recycle your cans? Cuttlebug it! Here's a sample of what happened with my used to be Dr. Pepper© can. Pretty cool stuff!

What I did, after I finished my almost the only source of caffeine, I rinsed out the can then used can opener to remove the lid part (aka part with tap). Then with old scissors, I cut the can open down the side. Removed the bottom part also with the scissors (this process helps sharpen and give a little more life to your burned out scissors). Now, I had a somewhat curled-up piece of coated aluminum. I rinsed it out again this time with dish detergent, to remove any ant attracting chemical that might have been left behind from the first rinse. Be mindful, now there are sharp edges that can cut and bring blood. Wear work gloves if you would like. Just be careful! Patted it dry and trimmed it to the embossing folder size. Now, I was ready to run off a dry embossed aluminum piece on my Wizard.

The round part with sentiment on this card was just a left over piece that I didn't have the heart to throw out :) The stamp was a dollar find at Mike's.

This next one is done the exact same way using a different folder. The sentiment was stamped and embossed on a piece of those holographic report covers from the Dollar store. Very interesting material to work with! I have yet to run it thru my Cuttlebug folder!

No deal on the car shopping yesterday *SIGH*. We'll just have to keep looking and be very patient! A good one in our price range will show up one of these days. Just hope and pray nothing will break down before now and then.

This is another quickie. A little left-over strip of the light switch plate cover. I ran the piece in Sizzix embossing folder thru my wizard machine. Peeled off and adhered to black piece of cardstock. Finished it off with some wired ribbon. And there is a quick and easy card for ya!

Thanks So Much!

Here's a super easy card that looks like I've spent hours making the background. The background piece is a light switch plate cover I got from Lowe's. It comes in a pack of two sheets and many different colours and texture to choose from. It's pretty pricey but I got it while it was on sale.

I cut the sheet to size, stuck it in the Cuttlebug embossing folder and ran it thru my Wizard. Peeled the top off the backing like a piece of sticker and stuck it to a card base and I'm done.

Caution: do not emboss on this sheet, it will melt and loose it's shape. Notice my little circle with Thanks So Much sentiment, by Stampin' Up!, it's not completely rounded. Live and learn for me :)
